Why do the fundamentalists object to the teaching of science, specifically, the science of evolution? Their belief in the creation of each species by a God, extinction of dinosaurs and other species by a great flood, and with all this occurring within the last 10,000 years is totally at variance with science. Why they feel they must keep their youngsters ignorant of scientific facts is baffling.
Some home-schooled students, whose parents are well-educated, are light-years ahead of
public school students at the same age level. Unfortuntely, far too many parents are light-weights whose intellectual elevators do not go to the top floor. If you are on a par with a box of rocks, intellectually speaking, it would be wise to give the job of educating your youngster to the subject matter specialists in your neighborhood school. The world is tough enough without your adding to your child's burden.
